A or B?

Still talking about the legalizing sports betting. After reading The Star, I read The Borneo Post and on the same matter, Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein mentioned that "the betting licence was approved a long time ago" and mentioned that "Ascort Sport was issued a sports-betting licence by the government".

However, on page 3, our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak mentioned that "the government has yet to issue or give the licence to Syarikat Ascort Sports Sdn. Bhd. to carry out betting operations in Malaysia."

So which one is the right statement? Mm..or maybe I don't get the whole picture of the issue.

Legalise what is illegal

I hope what I said will not bring trouble to me but I disagree with announcement made by our Prime Minister on legalising sports betting.

It's like a trend or a norm that whenever the world cup came, the betting will be on. And out of sudden, the government suggesting to legalise sports betting for reason to "curb illegal gambling and at the same time earn extra money for the Government coffers" - The Star 8June 2010.

Is our government that desperate to earn money until the stage to legalizing what is illegal?

If you read The Star page 3 dated 8 June, u will read on the comments made by Tan Sri Dr. George Chan and I agree with what he said that "if one were to legalise something illegal just to earn taxes, then one would be thinking only in terms of financial gains." If government were to legalise betting, soon, our children and everyone will think that betting is something legal, doesn't matter what kind of betting it is. If 'sabung ayam' is illegal, then how can sports betting be legal too when it is still categorize as gambling?

I don't know...but I think the world is going crazy. What do u think of this matter?

I saw this article in the Star newspaper dated 19/6/09.

Datuk Peter Minos mentioned that the Muslim and Non-Muslim in Sarawak "often eat near each other". Here in Kuching for example, we can see a lot of Muslim stalls inside a Chinese food store. At Samarahan, Desa Ilmu area, Xiang2 next to Warong 2000, students with different races can share table eating happily. No problem at all. Even a friend of mind, Candy, a Chinese from KL was shock to see this kind of situation here in Kuching.

Refering to a blog post by Grace about the 3 races that are always mentioned back in peninsular, why can't they open up their mind and accept that they are living in a plural society with more than these 3 races. The contanstly dividing each other according to races in any kind of events is totally not good and how will that 1Malaysia can be achieved? I better drop this topic as I do not want anyone to be offended.

I totally agree with the last paragraph of this article.
"Sarawakian have long realised that they need each other in many aspect of life. By accepting and respecting each other, there is much to be gained," Datuk Peter Minos.

I love that I have close friends from different races and religion living together so happily. We can never understand other people's religion but what we can do is to respect their believes and do not try to understand as u can never will.

BM or BI

what is ur opinion on the issue of teaching science and mathematics in English?

for me, the government sud not keep on changing the policy especially without much analyzing of possible consequences. Government had spend so much on sending teachers for training and now they wanna change the medium to BM again?

the medium issue is acceptable if they claim that the students are not getting good result and so forth. but i read in newspaper, those menteri and whoever they are holding 'sepanduk' saying "Jgn hapuskan bahasa Ibunda"..duh..izit consider "hapuskan bahasa ibunda" when we learn extra language?? there is no limit in learning and getting new knowledge especially English. since it is international language, students who master English can go further and besides, most of the books use in Uni is in English. Don they ever think of this point then? Learning English doesn't mean we are forgetting BM (is BM bahasa ibunda of every races?? no right? it's more of National language and sud be Bahasa Malaysia and not Bahasa Melayu)

we stil speak BM cos it's a national language, language that connect every Malaysian and why worry about losing this language? we stil learn BM in BM (of cos..lol..), Sejarah, Geografi, Moral, etc...

the minister sud worry about big issue such as country development rather than this issue which have been discussed for years...

anyway, this is just my opinion. ;)..
