Education for all? Think again.

I still remember the hot issue during my interview for my first posting back in 2009. It was about a girl, who has an excellent SPM result but was rejected to further her study to the public university for reason being a non-Bumiputera.

Recently, the same issue arises again. A student with 3.8 CGPA in her foundation year in University Malaya was rejected to pursue in medical course just because of her “foreign and Christian” name. How ridiculous it that? How can you reject an excellent student just because of their name? If name is the first most important qualification to further study, I guess I won’t have to be a teacher. We can all just make sure all parents get their child’s name right. There is no need for examination, no need for that stupid PBS, no need for SPM, just change your name.

Come to think of it, whose fault is it? Was it KPM? Or was it that particular person-in-charge? I don’t know. I just hope whoever is in charge of selecting the students, please, stop being racist. You are an adult, be smart. Which era you are living in? Why do you still have such a narrow mind? You are dealing with the future of the students as well as the future of the country. If you choose your own people without taking into account of the result and achievement of the students, then you are damaging the future of our country.

Because of this, excellent students left the country and further their study oversea. Graduated, found a job and migrated. We produced excellent students, and ‘donated’ their smart brain to the neighbouring countries and by then, then only our government started to beg them to come back and serve the country. But being rejected at you own country, would you even think of coming back?

The school I’m teaching in is famous of being at the bottom of the list of schools based on examination result. But why do we keep on being at the bottom no matter how hard we work to improve the students? One reason, our students are always missing in action and suddenly came back few years after not being in school. Regardless of the fact that the students did not take PMR examination, JPN still approved their application because of education policy where everyone deserves to have education. Being said so, then why did you reject that 3.8 CGPA student?

Why pushing the schools to produce excellent students when their name is all that matter? Please, STOP for the sack of our future.

Nothing Last Forever

This thought come across me today, that nothing had actually last forever in this world.

Be it your beloved handphone, beloved person, beloved house or car, they don't last long. Sooner or later, they will be gone, either it just broke or worn out, or die.

Even peacefulness does not last.

What happen in Sabah recently is shocking for every Malaysian who cares. I do, and reading those news does break my heart, and send lots of worries wave to me.

Until now, nothing is certain yet. It is scary to think of what is actually happening while we are deeply asleep.

My uncle, somewhere in Tawau, text me on Monday. He slept with  his loaded gun by his side, ready to fight if his work place is attacked. In his text, he said "enti aku mati, masti bisi sida orang jai sama2 mati" which mean "if I die, those bad guys must die with me". Oh, I hope he don. Please be safe uncle.

Then, recently, the photos of the army and police hugging and kissing their family goodbye when leaving for Semporna is heart breaking. Photo of the Late ACP Michael Padel's funeral is saddening.
How many children will lost their father? How many man will lost their life fighting for the safety of the country?

From far, I can only pray. Pray that this war (is this a war anyway?), end soon. Please end.

Greatest Bday Ever!

The image of my bff knocking on the car window makes me scream in the car at the airport.

My best housemate, Michelle, keeps on mentioning her friends is coming to KK in Feb n asked me to tag along since it was my bday that very same weekend. Me, expecting nothing special for my bday is ok with the plan but something came up a few days before my bday that changes my mind but the BFF, Tia, manage to push me to go to KK with Michelle saying that she gave Michelle some money to buy me something. So I was like, "ok, so that is the surprise?".

So when we were in the car waiting for Michelle's 'friends at the airport, someone knocked on the car window, the moment I turn, I saw Tia and Nana!! For a split second I thought I was in Kuching! Well of course I scream as long as I could remember, laugh so hard, still can't believe it. With Tia leaving her little son in Kuching, and Nana all the way from KL (7 hours flight delayed), how can I not scream?

We had the best bday weekend ever. Day trip to Kundasang, eating fresh fruit in the car. Stop by at Fairy Hotel Restaurant and had vege and soups for lunch. Went back to KK and do some shopping and buy some stuffs for little bday party in the room.

We were all in our sleeping attire, eating mee in the cup, drinking hot Milo and orange juice, eating cakes and strawberry, brush our teeth then go to bed. As simple as that but I really enjoyed it. No alcohol so I don't have to worry about hangover the next morning. How great it was!

They left on the next day. So we drive back to Lawas. It was great! Love my friends!

The BFF fly all the way from KL and KCH.
